SETUP

Follow these steps in order.

  1. Allow Accessibility

    In Yapper Settings, choose Open Settings. Enable Yapper in macOS Accessibility, then return and choose Check Again.

  2. Choose your provider

    Choose OpenAI under Choose your provider.

  3. Add your OpenAI API key

    Sign in to the OpenAI Platform, enable API billing if needed, and create a dedicated project key for Yapper with only the permissions it needs. Copy it, then return to Yapper and paste it into API key.

  4. Choose your narrator

    Choose a Model and compatible Voice, then set Narration pace and Delivery. Preview OpenAI Voices opens the voice gallery.

  5. Set playback

    Playback speed changes how fast Yapper plays audio on your Mac. Narration pace changes how OpenAI performs the text.

  6. Choose a keyboard shortcut

    Choose the shortcut button, then press the key combination you want to use in any app.

  7. Save and finish

    Choose Save and Finish. Select a short sentence and press your shortcut. This small test uses OpenAI API credit.
